Make this creamy white pizza sauce at home. This recipe uses simple ingredients like Parmesan and garlic to create a rich, flavorful base perfect for your next homemade pizza night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Continue cooking, stirring often, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  5. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  6. Continue stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy. Do not boil after adding the cream and cheese.
  7. Remove the sauce from the heat. Use immediately as a pizza base or store for later use.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use roasted garlic instead of fresh minced garlic.
  • This sauce works well as a base for chicken Alfredo pizza or spinach white sauce pizza.
  • You can thin the sauce slightly with a splash of milk if it becomes too thick after cooling.
