Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 bag (about 24 ounces) frozen tater tots
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
Stir the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder into the skillet with the beef mixture. Cook until heated through.
Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef layer.
Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the tots are golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can substitute cream of celery soup for the cream of mushroom soup.
If you want a crispier topping, bake the tater tots for 10 minutes before adding the cheese and beef mixture, then return to the oven.
This is an easy one dish meal perfect for feeding a crowd or potlucks.
