Make a rich, creamy Pumpkin Spice Latte at home that rivals coffeehouse versions. This easy recipe uses real pumpkin puree and warm spices for the perfect autumn beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots espresso (or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee)
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based for a dairy free PSL option)
  • Whipped cream and extra spice for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the pumpkin spice syrup: Combine water, sugar, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat the syrup mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warm, about 3 to 5 minutes. Do not boil.
  3. Remove the syrup from the heat and strain it through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove any pumpkin solids. This step creates a smoother sauce.
  4. Brew your espresso or strong coffee.
  5. In a separate small saucepan, heat the milk until steaming, whisking constantly to create some froth.
  6. Combine the strained pumpkin spice syrup (start with 2 tablespoons, adjust to taste) with the espresso in your mug.
  7. Pour the steamed milk over the coffee and syrup mixture.
  8. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of extra pumpkin pie spice, if desired. Enjoy this cozy autumn beverage immediately.

Notes

  • For an Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte, skip steaming the milk. Combine the syrup, espresso, and cold milk, then pour over ice.
  • If you want a richer flavor, use 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon of ground ginger, and a pinch of ground cloves instead of pre-mixed pumpkin pie spice.
  • This recipe yields one serving, perfect for a fall morning pick-me-up.
