Ingredients
Scale
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced very finely
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning blend
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Gather all your ingredients. You need no cooking for this simple appetizer.
In a shallow serving dish or bowl, combine the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper.
Pour the olive oil directly over the herbs and spices in the dish.
If you are using Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it over the top of the oil mixture.
Let the olive oil bread dip sit for at least 5 minutes at room temperature to allow the flavors to meld. This step is key for a flavorful dip.
Serve immediately with warm, crusty bread for dipping.
If desired, drizzle a small amount of balsamic vinegar over the top of the oil just before serving, or serve it on the side for guests to swirl into their portion.
Notes
Use the best quality extra virgin olive oil you have; since this is a no-cook recipe, the oil flavor is the main component.
For a Carrabba’s copycat flavor, ensure your Italian seasoning blend is prominent.
To serve this as a warm bread dipping sauce, gently warm the olive oil in a small saucepan for 2 minutes before mixing with the spices. Do not let it simmer.
This dip is excellent for entertaining and is a quick appetizer for guests.
