You need this recipe for perfectly tender and flaky fish every time with minimal cleanup. This Lemon Garlic Butter Baked Salmon uses simple pantry staples for a quick, healthy baked fish that satisfies you on busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry using paper towels. Place the fillets on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spoon the lemon garlic butter mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet, making sure the tops are well coated.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets, until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. For best results, aim for an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  6. Remove from the oven. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispy skin, place the salmon skin-side down on a wire rack set over the baking sheet before adding the butter mixture.
  • If you do not have fresh lemon, you can use 1 teaspoon of bottled lemon juice, but fresh is recommended for the best flavor.
  • This recipe is excellent for meal prepping; store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
