Make this rich, decadent hot fudge pie that tastes like a warm brownie. This easy pie recipe uses simple ingredients and delivers a gooey chocolate center perfect for any occasion. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for the best chocolate dessert experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the unbaked pie crust on a baking sheet.
  2. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Gradually whisk in the water until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Add the butter pieces to the saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the butter melts and the mixture just begins to boil. Remove from heat immediately.
  5. In a separate bowl, lightly beat the eggs. Slowly pour about half a cup of the hot chocolate mixture into the eggs while whisking constantly to temper the eggs.
  6. Pour the tempered egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining hot chocolate mixture. Stir well.
  7. Stir in the vanilla extract and the chocolate chips until the chips are completely melted and the filling is smooth.
  8. Pour the hot fudge filling into the unbaked pie crust.
  9. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center still has a slight wobble, resembling a warm brownie.
  10. Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before serving. This pie is best served warm.
  11. Serve slices warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate indulgence.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust edge, you can partially bake the crust for 10 minutes before adding the filling.
  • This pie tastes best when served warm, about 30 minutes after it comes out of the oven.
  • If you want a truly decadent experience, drizzle extra hot fudge sauce over the top before serving.
