Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lb salmon fillets, skin removed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • For the Zesty Slaw:
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage mix
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for lighter option)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt
  • For the Lime Crema:
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 12 tablespoons water (to thin)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slaw: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, cilantro, mayonnaise, lime juice, honey, and a pinch of salt. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate while you prepare the salmon to allow flavors to meld.
  2. Prepare the lime crema: In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, lime juice, and lime zest. Add water one tablespoon at a time until you reach a drizzling consistency. Set aside.
  3. Season the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. In a small bowl, mix the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the salmon fillets.
  4. Air fry the salmon: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly brush the air fryer basket with olive oil. Place the seasoned salmon in the basket in a single layer. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Warm the tortillas: Warm the tortillas according to package directions, either in a dry skillet over medium heat or briefly in the microwave.
  6. Assemble the tacos: Gently flake the cooked salmon into pieces. Divide the flaky salmon among the warm tortillas. Top generously with the zesty slaw and drizzle with the lime crema. Serve immediately for a fresh fish taco experience.

Notes

  • For a gluten free salmon tacos option, confirm your tortillas are certified gluten free.
  • If you prefer a spicier flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the salmon seasoning mix for spicy salmon tacos.
  • This recipe works well for a salmon taco bowl base if you skip the tortillas and serve over rice or greens.
