Ingredients
Scale
1 (3 pound) package frozen fully cooked, shredded chicken breast
1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce (sweet or tangy)
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (12 count) package sweet Hawaiian slider rolls
1 cup shredded Gouda cheese or Pepper Jack cheese
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Place the frozen shredded chicken in a large saucepan or slow cooker. Add the BBQ sauce, water, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.
If using a saucepan, cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly, about 15 minutes. If using a slow cooker, cook on low for 2-3 hours or high for 1 hour until heated through.
Slice the entire package of slider rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls connected. Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared baking dish.
Spoon the saucy BBQ chicken mixture evenly over the bottom layer of rolls.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the chicken layer. Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese.
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and dried parsley. Brush this butter mixture evenly over the top of the slider buns.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the tops of the rolls are golden brown and slightly crisp.
Remove from the oven, slice the sliders apart, and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, add thinly sliced red onion or a drizzle of ranch dressing over the chicken before adding the top bun.
If you prefer a tangier flavor, use a vinegar-based BBQ sauce.
These sliders reheat well in the oven or microwave for easy leftovers.
